Trying to replace the exhaust manifold on my 86 Iron Duke and the eBay seller I bought from sent a manifold for an Iron Duke, but not for an Iron Duke in a Fiero. It has a bend in the down tube. I am so pissed, I have a garage lined up to do the work in for this weekend only. They got a nasty email saying I better have the right part in my hands by Friday. We shall see who they do. This will be a good excercise for all Duke owners since this is the one place I could find a resonably priced manifold.

Sorry I want a new manifold. If I'm risking snapping bolts it is getting a new part. I do appreciate it though.

You shouldn't have any problems with broken bolts on a 4cyl. Sure, they happen, but the chances are pretty slim. I changed out the original manifold on an 88 coupe with 130K at the time. No problem I ended up cutting the bolts going from the manifold to the down pipe. I just bought new ones, as it was easier than trying to keep the old ones. The rest of the bolts came out without a problem. It was one of the easier jobs on a Fiero.

So here is what I thought I was buying, looks good right??

Here is what I got.....what the heck is that extra pipe and that big bend doing under the O2 sensor???

Yep it will fit on a Duke head, it won't mate up with my exhaust. 5 hours later and I have yet to hear from AM Autoparts. I am a very happy person. I was hoping to do this repair this weekend but that is out now. It will probably take a week to get a response from these people.

This company checks their email once a day at 4:30. You sell thousands of parts on eBay and check your email once a day at 4:30??? Poor business practices to me.

I'm trying to get a replacement by Saturday but I'm thinking this company won't be having that. I had to send them numbers from the box, pictures of my current manifold, pictures of what they sent, and the VIN to my car so they can determine that they messed up.....all as slowly as they possibly can. You would think the pictures I sent of what they posted and what they sent would be enough, because they clearly do not match. What can I say I am pissed, if they replace it I am out what it costs to send it back. Grrrrrr

These guys are great! I demand a replacement overnighted to me so I can do my repairs as originally planned this weekend. They have not emailed back. I have sent them photo after photo showing they screwed up. Nothing. I have no doubt I will get a refund or a replacement but it will be on their time table not mine. I am soooo angery. When this is done they are getting bad feedback, and I am posting on every car forum I can find warning people about this company.

The one in the first pic is nice and shinny. The one you have is not. Wonder if you get the nice and shinny one when you get the other one.

Yeah that might have to happen. This dude is getting a lovely email with a link to this thread so he knows his business habits suck and all of the Fiero owners know it.

And the sad thing is I parted out an 86se and had a manifold that was all cleaned up. Had all the extras other than the engine itself. All the parts went for scrape metal last year.
Now I wish I had kept a few.

Well after a nasty gram they told me to ship the manifold back for a full refund. Minus what it cost to ship it back of course. So we shall see when my money gets returned. This is great a month later I might have a new manifold on my car. Thank you AM Autoparts. I told them they better fix their auctions and remove Fiero from the list of cars it fits on. I'm sure that will be ignored so don't ever buy anything from AM Auto parts via their website or via eBay.

I am so miffed right now.

if you can manage to get down here to okc, you could go to pull a part. pay $1 to get in and roam to your hearts desire in duke parts in the HUGE gm section. rarely do i see a fiero tho. i havent been out there in a couple mmonths, so who knows. but will a manifold from any gm duke work or does it need to be a fiero one specificly?

I'm going to do what I should have done in the first place. Order a manifold from the Fiero store. Sure it costs twice as much but at leasy I know what I'm getting will be the right stuff.

And yes I threatened bad feedback, they are still getting it. I have never seen such poor service ever. I mean they sell parts on their own website and don't even have a phone number listed. You are stuck emailing and waiting for them to get around to dealing with you. Not cool man, not cool.

Well I sent them their manifold back and was promised a refund then they dropped off the face of the earth. Nice. So it's in Paypals hands now. What a bunch of A-holes. Who treats customers like this?? Just ignore them and they will go away. They are getting a linkt o this thread when I get my money back.

Well nothing...they won't even respond to Paypal. So I sent them a link to this thread hoping it will inspire them to refund my money, so I can drop the claim with Paypal. That money could be used for parts, it came from my car budget and someone is sitting on my money because they suck at running a business. Irks me to no end.

They sent it back!!!! The part I shipped back to them for my refund they recieved, then refused delivery and shipped it back. So I'm still out $65 and I still have the wrong manifold. I have a claim in with Paypal, and a claim in with my bank. My bank said that if there is no response or refund soon they will just take my money back. God I love Wells Fargo, they lend responsibly, and have the best customer service.

2 lessons to learn:

1. Always deal with a legit business. It is very rare I will deal with a company via ebay, or any company that doesn't have a phone number and address listed.
2. Always, always, always pay everything with a credit card. Disputes are so much more easily resolved when a credit card company is involved.

Had this experience recently where in the mufflers I ordered were grossly over sized compared to the dimensions posted in the auction. I didn't waste any time being sympathetic, I sent them an email explaining the error since I could not reach them by phone and promptly filed a complaint with paypal as an early record. I was sent a shipping label via email and given a full refund including shipping.

Lesson learned when dealing with ebay: ask as many questions as needed to insure proper item dimensions, the dialogue can help you in a dispute, and never deal with high volume sellers who can not spare the time to take care of problems since being stuck with my money in hand and no part has never caused me to much grief. Always review the nature of any negatives that may be present.

Finally after enough threats of bashing them on every car forum known to man, I get a full refund. I still have this bogus part in my hand. I told them that if they send me the labels to ship it back to them I will get it on it's way. So we shall see how that plays out. Now I am ordering a quality part from The Fiero Store who will get it right the first time.
