Can someone clarify for me the sources of door glass scratches if the scratches are on the outside? Inside?

I know it can be the outer dew wipes, but what else? I will replace the door glass, but don't want the scratches to come back.

There are felt guides in the door to press against the glass when it's rolled up. The felt wears thin and scratches the glass. I bet very little its the weatherstripping.

So would these felt guides inside the door (2 of them?) scratch the inside of th glass I guess? And it would be the dew wipes if the scratches were outside?

If you look at the outter dew wipe pics they also have pad attached to them which cause scratches.

It is definitly the anti scratch pads on the outside that get dirt in them And MAKE the scratches ! I have the doors apart right now & It's very clear that they are the culprit.

Outside there's 4 possible areas. They're all located on the outer wipes. Usually when the felting wears and the contact cement and dirt starts scratching them. On the inside there's two felt covered guides that wear thin and begin scratching.

Here's what a "window scratching" outer dew wipe looks like:

I have the same problem. My windows are very scratched on the outside from dirt and wear, I'm waiting on new outer dew wipes. Doesn't help much that the window is already scratched, but I'll be gettin new ones before too long, hopefully.

I got a quote of $125 per side for the door glass. This does not include labor. Is that in the ballpark?

So, is it the cracked dew wipe or the felt pads that scratch?

In my case it was the two inner pads. The felt was completely gone.
