I'm picking up a low mile HD Getrag from a 89 Beretta, it has the intermediate shift on it. What i'm wondering has anyone install this trans with the shaft and used the Beretta axle just on that side? Any info would be great!

Thanks

Did you just un-bolt the shaft and use the stock fiero axle correct?

Yes, you can just get a new seal

How hard is it to replace the seal? pop the old one out and pop the new one in?

Ok I just wanted to clarify ..There are two types of intermediate axles ..one has a housing that is bolted to the trans with the axle inside and has a seal at the end of it where the CV axle plugs into and is lubricated from the trans oil, the other type just plugs in to the trans like the fiero axle does but has a mount on the block where a sealed bearing is housed and the cv shaft plugs into the end of it

If your intermediate shaft is the type that has a housing that is bolted to the tranny diff housing then there shouldn't be a seal @ the passenger side diff axle housing ..you just get a fiero axle seal and put it in place ..if your shaft is the type that just plugs in without a housing then you just pry out the old seal and put a new one in

When putting a new seal in get a pvc pipe from lowes that is the right diameter as the axle seal and evenly tap around the pipe as you install the seal untll it bottoms out
