I appear to have an ign switch problem on one of the 84s. Turn it on, fuel pump comes on for 2 secs, but nothing else works that usually does when the key is on. No turn signals, no radio, nothing when I turn it to start. Starter solenoid doesn't even "click". Battery is good--I even tried to jump it off--no change.
Ign switch--or fusible link?
If it's the fusible link--which one is it? (84)
Where would I check for voltage at regarding ign switch problems? If I recall correctly, the ign swith is not accesable without dropping the colum down from it's mount brackets?

Very possible the ignition switch is gone. It is mounted in the bottom of the steering column. You could check it with a OHM meter but it is cheap enough to replace. When you turn the key all the way to start do you lose power? if so it might be a lose ground cable to the battery or at the body. Also check you fuses

Check your ECM/IGN and Gauges fuse's first. The gauge fuse runs alot of that stuff.

If they are all good, the two red wires that come off the big lug on the starter are the ones that supply power to the car and have the fusible links on them. The links are supposed to be at the starter lug.

I do not lose power when I turn the key to start. I put a set of jumper cables from neg battery terminal to alt bracket, to see if maybe I had a bad ground, but it made no difference. Have checked all the fuses as well. Headlight motors are inoperative as well, but the headlights come on and are bright. Interior lights work. Nothing, that involves "key on" or "start" position of key works.
I considered the neutral start switch (automatic trans), but a bad neu start sw would not affect turn signals or decklid solenoid operation.
Ign switch is cheap enough, but hangin upside down under the dash to replace it is a pain in the neck. Guess I'll save a bit of trouble, and just go ahead and pull the driver's seat out too--gives me a bit more room.

Will jack it up 1st and check the fusible links.

And, does anyone know offhand which pin at C-500 feeds power to the ign switch?

both of the fuseable links are on the starter lug.

you have too many things not working for me to think it has a problem with the switch.
