The front fender 85 GT ground effects are attached to the fender with two very thin fasteners that are about the diameter of a 1/2 or silver dollar. I am using my fingers to acess all this. There are two plastic studs maybe 5/16" in diameter passing thru the fender and these two fasteners do not screw off they are press on. No hex to put a socket on, as are the fasteners for the rear quarter ground effects. Hey and the door is unique too! WTF???????????????????????????

Any ideas on how to get these off so I can pull the ground effects?

Or, do I have to pull the entire fender?

If you get those clips off the ground effects will come right off as long as you take off the rivots under the rocker panel. I usually use a screwdriver and a needle nose to get them off, its not easy but it works.

As I recall I used a couple of very small screw drivers and patience and just slowly worked the fasteners off the studs.

I remember bending the tabs up slightly and when they are off I just used a hammer to flatten them down for re-use.

I just did a set yesterday and that was my technique except I used a 90 degree pick. A small screw driver will work as well. Just hammer them flat and reinstall by pushing the clip on with a 10mm deep socket.
