I was just wondering. I thought about replacing the two inside lights (355, vette lights) with yellow ones. I did a search because I figure this topic has been brought up before but I came up with nuttin. I'm guessing yes?
I'm not aware of why it would be a problem as long as the yellow lights are for turn signals only (at least here in So Cal). Cops seemed to be pulling over the Hondas when they would have all their rear lights going on (signals/brakes and even backup lights) when the brakes were applied.

the fronts of all cars are amber/yellow for turn. Most imports are all split amber turn red brake in rear, as are many american cars, including the gt style rears. So odds are good that they are legal everywhere. That said, I know that some lights and tintings of lights and windows as they come from the factory are not legal in all states, so just cause it was made that way in the factory does not mean it is legal.

I've heard that yellow turn signals are the standard everywhere except the US. As an example, I took my '85 S10 Blazer over to England back in 1989 (Air Force). I found out quickly in order to register the car and pass inspection (called the MOT) that I had to rewire my rear tail lights to make the clear reverse lights into the turn signals (with amber bulbs). The Blazer has only the combo red stop/turn signal lights stock.
EDIT to add: I have 3 cars with yellow turn signals.

American cars frequently have red taillights and still have only one light doing three jobs: marker or running, brakes and turn signal. Cheaper with one color and piece for casting.

I changed the lights in the front of my Caprice and also checked with an officer and both white or amber is legal in the front. The rear I believe has to be red or amber.

Maryland laws say that red or amber rear turn signals are legal and yellow front, unless factory supplied with a clear lenses/bulbs.
you can change the fronts to a clear lense but must use a amber bulb clear lenses are illegal in the rear for anything except tag and reverse.
tinting tail, turn, signal, or head lights is also illegal unless with a DOT approved removable cover. if unsure about if a lamp housing or cover is DOT, remove and look for the DOT # that will be stamped into it.
thats out of the 02 maryland inspection book, im sure most states will be close to that. and im sure a few minor things may have changed since 02, i know they added something into the books lastyear about adding HID lights to a car...
Yellow or Red rear turn signals are fine... Yellow can Only be a turn signal. Red is allowed to be brake and turn.
To put Yellow on a car that was only red, you have to rewire the stop and turn circuits separately like a Fiero GT has.
