Was returning home last night when I went to downshift to make a turn onto our road and momentarily got a gear grinding sound like I had not pushed the clutch all the in before trying to shift. So I pushed the clutch all the way down and put it in the right gear and let off the clutch and finished making my turn. After making the turn the car felt like It had no power behind it and the engine was revved high. Tried stopping and shifting to first and still engine would reeve high and not really move forward. Pulled over and had car towed home. Now when I start the car and try to put it in gear it will not move at all it just sits there and reeves the engine. It is a Iron Duke with a 5-speed manual transmission. I have no problem shifting the gears with the engine on or off from the gear selector in the car as well as with the levers at the transmission. There is noting that I can see visually broken or missing so does anyone have a suggestion of what to start with checking?
Thanks.

A friend/mechanic that my wife works with came and looked at it and believes it is a blown clutch. So it is getting towed to his house so he can replace it for me. Lets hope that is the problem.

sounds like the cultch disc went haywire tome maybe sheared off
you said that it made a noise and had a problem with power
if the disc sheared that could have made the grinding noise. then keeps on spinning
until it wont spin no more(worn completely away) or fell down into another place.
hopefully thats it. and no more
the worst case is that the trans is blown

well so far today we got pretty much everything disconnected except the rear struts so we can drop the cradle and replace the clutch. So tomorrow morning we should have the engine out and start replacing the clutch.

received a picture and text message from the person helping me work on my car and as of 10 pm last night the cradle has been dropped. So the engine and everything is out. Now I just hope that it is just the clutch that is the problem.

Well got the clutch and everything replaced and the cradle put back in the car today. Just need to finish hooking up all the cables and hoses tomorrow and hopefully be back in business.
This is what the clutch looked like when we got it out.
