1987 GT, I know I've seen threads about wipers & people saying it's "wires shorted in the column, BUT this car, sitting in one place, no one even sitting in it, every once in awhile, the wipers will take 1 swipe then stop, wait a couple of minutes & do it again ! Again, no one touching the wheel or column, no bouncing of the car, it's sitting perfectly still. What would do that ??

From memory fiero's have a pulse board that controls the wipers if you have the wipers /w delay. On my 85 2M4 every so often I would turn the key and get on swipe the back to the down park position. Also very possible the wiper switch could be going south.

replacing the capacitors on the circuit board seems to fix that. worked for me. I believe Rodney Dickman sells the kit.

Look for the delay wiper rebuild kit under the "Electrical" tab

if Rodney's repair kit doesn't fix it you'll need another pulse board in the wiper motor or column switch.

pulse board easiest to change and can be picked up used

column switch hardiest to install, should be bought new, and costs $$$

Roll it out to the driveway on a Saturday afternoon (while all the neighbors are home) raise both arms and yell over & over " I CAST YE DEMONS TO THE BOWELS OF HELL !!" while your wife sprinkles holy water on the car.
........couldnt hurt........

Just like there's no shame in holding your wife's purse for a minute.
