the cruise control cable is entirely in the engine compartment, and is controlled electronicly from the front.
did your gas pedal cable break? or are you looking for info on the cruise control system?

If you lift up on the gas pedal with the throttle cable unhooked can you see/hear the cable moving ? I don't see how you coul have unhooked the pedal without purpose.

Disconnect the cable at the TB and pull back. The pedal should come up, if not it's broken inside the sheath or at the pedal lever.

The only spring that pulls back on the pedal lever is on the TB. The spring on the pedal is just to make the pedal itself stay rotated up on the lever.

If the cable was disconnected at the TB and someone moved the cable or the pedal lever, it can come out of the slot at the lever under the dash.
