I am replacing the rusty tin can cruise control canister on my 86 GT with a plastic ball style. When I removed the old can it had a hose on the vacuum port that was capped. There is a vacuum hose coming off the trunk wall that is capped that I assume connects to the canister on the vac port. The servo has 2 ports: the lower port hose connects to the plenam. The upper port hose connects to a (control?) on the trunk wall. Would someone please explain how I correctly connect the vacuum hoses to the plastic ball???

Vacuum port and servo port?

The servo with 2 vac hoses on the backside. Capped vac hose off trunk wall laying on top of it.

This is looking down the trunk wall. The control is in the center of the picture with the vac hose connected on the left side of it.

I hope you have better luck with the plastic ball than I did! https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum2/HTML/084717.html I ended up replacing mine with a new metal one.

See if this helps you get the vacuum lines sorted out:

If you still have the old can, here's a possible alternative:

By the way, The Fiero Store sells the vacuum canister for $19.95

Thanks for the diagram. From the looks of it I will have to plug the vacuum from the plenam as the vacuum is supplied from the vac line on the trunk wall. I did try the tomato can idea but my cheap can opener cut the lid too small. If the plastic ball melts then I will get the canister from the Fiero Store.

Hey worst senerio if you have it backwards, simply reverse the hoses. No damage should occur, well maybe you will travel 60 mph backwards!

I have a melted one also, aftermarket cruise system.
I salvaged a complete factory cruise set up except for the wiring from an 85 gt, considering installing that in place of the aftermarket unit, but without wires I am at a loss at this time. Someone posted here the wiring was present in all Fiero's passenger compartments for cruise. I did not notice that when I revamped my console.

Good luck!
