I currently have an 88 coupe with a 5 speed duke. The engine needs rebuilt and wont pass CA smog. So I decided to take a 2.8 with an automatic from an 87 se and put in my 88. Will the axles from the 87 auto fit in the 88 or can I use the 5sp axles with the auto tranny? Also, not being really familiar with the fiero, What other parts will be needed to swap these engines and trannys, coolant tubes, trans cooler lines etc.? Thanks, Eric

The axles from the auto setup will need to be used as the 5 speed axles are differant. For the swap you will need the auto trans line, tran brackets, ect.

Check to make sure your radiator has the fittings for the trans cooler lines. You can run rubber lines in place of the original auto's metal ones. Then use the correct size metal ends on the radiator itself.

Why don't you just reuse the 5 speed with the V6?
