I am trying to help a friend who has an 84 duke. He pulled all his wires off for replacement and lost the diagram he made for the wire/cylinder order on the distributor cap. I cant find it in my haynes manual. Anyone know?

I think it's 1-3-4-2 - but then again I think it's 1-4-2-3 , I am by no means an expert on the 2.5, I know a few here who are that should be chimming in any minute

its 1-3-4-2 , firing order is also written upperside of the intake manifold

maybe the threadstarter is 180° wrong = 4-2-1-3

my question is similar - on the 4 cylinder distributor where is #1??? i know the firing order, but am not sure that i have #1 in the correct spot. a friend said usually the #1 cylinder is marked, but not on either of my 2 dist caps. there is a buldge for the cap to fit over the ignition module, so where is #1 relative to that? pics? i know, im a dummy to have (possibly) mixed up the wires - so go ahead....

I reposted the image since the link seemed to have gone bad. Your wires should be set up like the image I posted. The black dot is the number 1 cylinder.

thanks avengator: i assume that the x's in the circles outside of the cap are the screws, and not the bumps on the cap. if so then, ive got it!
thanks again :-)
