Last night coming out of a car show , my pulley from the water pump just fell off , not caused by the 4 bolts not thightened enough but right off from were it is press fit on the shaft . That is for a 2.8 .
Now i hear a loud noise from the pump . Cause i put it back on ( the pulley ).
And what about the thermostat do they always break the rubber seal when taking them off ?
I have around 5 or 6 almost new in my tool box less the seal , and they all are A/C Delco ????????????????????????

Wow, never heard of the pulley falling off before, you did say it was a press on, right?
I usually use brake grease on my thermostat gasket and also on the housing, it's still a pain to get out though.

That's what i'm thinking too
But yesterday before leaving it started to make noise , but the pulley was there .
Ya the pulley just fell of from the press fit .
Maybe it was starting to come off and i didn't notice and being on the end of the shaft outside ( PulleySide ) withe the pressure of the belt it damaged the inside of the pump.
Don't know if it's feasable to put and electric water pump on the 2.8 ? And buy the appropriate lenght of belt for the crank pulley to the alternator
I have a brand new CSI right here .

Sounds like an AC Delco pump to me. Quality is not number one.

I will go with an AC Delco part before anything else. It sounds like a one-off failure.

As for the stat o-rings, they last about a year on my car then start to crack so I just buy a new one.

That pump was installed last year when i had my engine rebuilded . the garantee is over by now . If i go and see the guy he's gonna tell me not my problem for sure .
And also i had the pump replaced around 2 months before my engine failure , and when he rebuilded the engine i told him to put that pump in , and he said nah i'm gonna put a new one , and i forgot to ask him for the old almost new one .
So i'm in for a pump job , sssssssssssssshi---------------------------------------------------------------------------t.

Was the pump , making noise no damage to the front cover .
Did 30 miles this morning to get it fixed without problem .
Came in and the guy said seems like a piston slap , said nevermind when the belt was off no noise so it's coming from the pump .
We were right
Thanks guys .
Also i asked the guy at the auto part and he said he had seen that once on a WInnabago .
I costed 1,100.00$ in damage , tried to collect the company that has sold the pump to the auto part .
They gave him 25.00$ saying that the warranty is only applied to the cost of the piece .
BTW it was a cast impeller , could have been a plastic one .
Game over for this one what's next ?

Thats unfortunate, the AC Delco pump for the 2.8 comes out of the box with a plastic impeller that is designed to fail - I have seen 7-8 of these pumps fail due to cracked impellers and the impeller simply coming off the shaft. I will take a $25 Auto Zone special ANYDAY before installing an AC Delco unit that is designed to fail in order to fill bays at the dealership.
