i have an 84 with a v8 archie swap done to it bought it that way. my cradle is rusted out so it has to go and while getting ready to pull it apart i noticed the angle iron the front mount is bolted to looks like it is peeled up off the cradle. i'm guessing that would change the angle of my motor but my starter already is resting on my cradle so it seems too me it can't go back down where i think it should. i dont know if it was always this way or what, so i was hoping someone had pictures of theres bolted and welded so i can compare. Thanks Ray

I used a longer angle than was supplied in the kit. It is welded to the cradle and I added a brace at the rear of it to ensure it stays put. Then once I had it exactly where i wanted it, I drilled the outer two holes to ensure alignment and additional clamp force.
Here is the only pic of the backside and another front view without the engine:

Do you have solid mounts on the tranny? If you have rubber ones, have they maybe gone soft and let the back end of the engine drop down to let the starter hit the cradle?

yes i think they have sagged but my main question is does my motor mount look right to every1 the way it sits up in the front (archie's bracket off the cradle but where the angle iron is touching) thnks ray.

You mount does not look right to me... the angle should be firmly attached to the cradle and I can not see how it could be firmly attached with the front side sticking up in the air. However, I would see if the two holes between the angle and the engine bracket have been slotted. If they are not, then it most likley was originally installed in that manner.
If I was starting with a previously installed SBC Fiero, I would pull everything out and check and recheck everything...

Holy cow! Was that under salt water? Yes it seems wrong. That bottom piece should lie flat. Get a new cradle and use a new L piece. You can get the L piece maybe free in the scrap box of a large metal shop.

i think you are right Guru, my cradle needs replacing so i'm going to call Archie and buy a video and start over. Alex4mula, no not salt water but antifreeze. i fought with burping the system for weeks and after a while i just stopped rinsing it off (out of frustration dumb move). Thank you everyone for the photos, i appreciate the help.
