Bleh, more problems. Jus flipped my 3.4 to put the oil pan on, and the oil pump driveshaft fell out of the open distributor hole. No big deal right? Well, I can't find the little plastic collar that everyone says goes on over the shaft to help hold it to the oil pump. I've never looked to see if it was actually there, so I'm hoping the 3.4 never had one and I didn't lose it somewhere teribble, like... down in the oiling passages of the block or something. So my question to anyone who has done a 3.4 swap - did the 3.4 come with one of these little collars?

Hehe, I think I just answered my own question cause I looked at my old oil 2.8 pump/shaft, which I had forgetten that I still had. The little bushing that the collar clips to sticks out much farther than the one on the 3.4, and has a groove for the thing, which the my 3.4 doesn't have at all. So it seems that the 3.4 was never designed to have one of these plastic thingies, so it couldn't have fallen anywhere bad. WOOT! But if for whatever reason I'm wrong, it be cool if someone with a 3.4 could speak up. Otherwise, thanks to everyone who read about my short lived problem

It's probably one of those things that GM realized didn't actually accomplish anything since the shaft can't go anywhere with the distributor installed. I wouldn't worry about it.
