You mentioned that you'd like to keep the upholstery as close to original as possible. The Fiero Store not too long ago (in their 2005-2007 hard copy catalog)
could have provided you that option for what I assume is an `85 GT that you have, but The Fiero Store has discontinued that part number (# 99106) from their on-line catalog.
Instead, The Fiero Store's on-line catalog currently lists seat covers that IMHO look
almost nothing like the original Fiero GT seat covers. Even The Fiero Store apparently agrees with that assessment on their website --- albeit understandably phrasing it far more diplomatically than I just did. Accordingly, I suggest simply going with Mr. Mike's seat covers instead.
I've Mr. Mike's leather seat covers on my `86 GT. I don't think they look quite as "original" for a GT as those once offered by The Fiero Store. Rather, I think Mr. Mike's seat covers look
better than the original, and since the latter apparently are no longer available from The Fiero Store anyway (and were discontinued by GM l-o-n-g ago), I'd recommend going with Mr. Mike's instead, based on personal experience.
The leather Mr. Mike's seats which I purchased --- before his "leatherette" (i.e., vinyl) seat covers even were available --- are not inexpensive, so you may want to consider the less expensive "leatherette" seat covers which IMHO, look perfectly fine. I wouldn't be surprised if this more recently available "leatherette" alternative also
wears longer than real leather.
The even more recently introduced cloth alternative offered by Mr. Mike's might be another very acceptable alternative.
In any case, whichever seat covers you elect to choose, good luck with your seat cover upholstery project, and by the way,
welcome to Pennock's Fiero Forum!
