Hello

I am curious as to how hard it would be to swap a 3800 series II v-6 from my 1997 Bonneville into a 1987 Fiero GT. I 've heard that everything mounts up with little or no modification to the stock fiero transmission. The 3800 is the nonsupercharged engine with low mileage. There is a good bit of body damage on my rear quarter panel and instead of fixing it I would like to just drop the engine in my Fiero. If anyone has ever done this swap and can offer advice all is appreciated. I live in Columbus Ohio.

What Tranny do you have? It is pretty easy. How skilled are you with welding etc? If you are not able to you will need to buy mounts. You can either do the wiring yourself or have someone do it for you. If you are using a stick, replacing the clutch with a stronger one is recommended. Also you will have to get your computer programmed to accept the tranny. If its auto you would be better off using the 3800 tranny. Custom axles will be needed. Other then that its just hooking stuff up and figuring out the exhaust.

You should be able to use a stock ECU, or someone could flash it for a few bucks. ($30-40)

Thanks for the information. Does anyone know of any shops in my area or within 100 miles or so from Columbus ohio who could do the swap. I am a huge fan of the 3800. Almost every car I've owned recently in the past few years have had a 3800 of some sort. I've had the series I n/a, the series ii s/c and n/a. I currently have the series iii in the car I bought to replace the Bonneville that I am parting with. So I really hope to do this swap.

Where can I find Ryan. As long as the job is done right I don't mind the wait. I have an automatic engine with the Iron Duke (2.5)

www.GMtuners.com is Ryan's site. Top notch engineering and very reasonable pricing.
