Friends, the only thing standing between the engine out of the car and me right now is the two large connectors between the engine compartment and passenger compartment. I cannot get them apart. Don't want to force anything. The manual is again useless. Can anyone help? 1987 Fireo SC with the 2.5 manual trans.

They don't actually come apart, from inside the car you have plastic snaps you squeeze, then the whole assembly passes through into the engine bay, taking the wiring harness with it.

Thought I had a picture, but cannot find it.

And only the one one nearer the drivers side of the car needs to be undone, nothing on the other bulkhead passthrough is connected to the engine, it runs over to the vicinity of the C-500 connector.

Yeah, I had to "figure" that out too, took awhile too for my non-mechanical brain to figure it out.

On the grey plastic cover, push on the left side on the tab (as you are looking at it) towards the drivers side and into the firewall. The whole cover pushes through the firewall. You only need to disconnect the drivers side connection on the firewall and a couple of ECM wire harness connectors

See the tab on the left side of the grey plastic? Thats where you push towards the drivers side and through the firewall. The whole grey plastic pushes through along with the wires.

Hope this helps.
