what oil filter do you guys use for the 3800 sc II? Should I just buy the one for the car the engine the car came out of or is there a specific one to get? Ther reason I ask is because in corvettes there is the one gm recomends and then there was the one that the corvette guys recommend, it had a big capacity so it provided more filtering and a bit more oil in the system.

I dont know the # of hand but there is one for the 3800 that is bigger than what the book calls for. I just run the stock one that the book calls for myself but its just what you prefer.

I used the PF52 on my 3800SC Buick. The owner's manual called for the PF47.. these are the same as for a V6 Fiero.

I look up the oil filter that fits a 4.3 V6....it is the same diameter/same adapter but the filter is larger.

I brought my car to a quick lube place and they said that they could not put this filter on becuase the suspension is in the way (I have a 97 GTP) when the car is not lifted in the air. Instead of using a jack to lift the car, they used a prybar and and hammer to dent the oil filter enough to remove it. I was a little pissed because they ripped out one of the oil sensor wires at the same time and put a smaller filter back on. (I remembered why I change my own oil after this)
