Hi Guys!
Well it looks like I will be going to Pull A Part tomorrow to get a replacement distributor for my 85 stock 2.8. I need to find a good replacement one.
What do I look for ?
Is there play in them as they age or ???
Should I invest in a distributor wrench?
How do I mark the old one and the new one so everything lines up?

Thank you for you help!

All you need is a 13mm box end wrench. Not all iron headed 60 deg V6 distributors are the same, sorry I don't know the interchange. I beleive the carb'ed motors are and FI distributors are the difference however I don't nkow that to be a fact

I found a list of interchangeables on Fierosails. Do you happen to know if the injectors can interchanged?

Ours distributors are known to rust / pit etc --- so what you get from a junk yard is going to need to be reworked so why bother--get a quality rebuilt A-1 Cardone OR a new Rich/Porter unit. A-1 unit is the best in quality for a re-manufactured product - but you must install cap-rotor-module. R/P unit is 100% NEW with cap rotor & electronics. It cost more - but you get more! Both are available at real part stores like Fisher//Federated - parts plus bumper to bumper - Car Quest. If your going to do it -do it right.

I pulled a couple from my parts cars before I junked them, one is a nice stock severely rusted one (LOL), the other appears to be a recent "Cardone" type rebuilt one. It has a GM part # on the bottom (1103704) and "REMFG". $128 + $50 core at Autozone, $35 including shipping if you want it? I was going to put it in the mall at some point but never got around to it, been in my living room for a year. lol

Doh!! I just realized after I posted my reply that you posted on Thursday about getting one on Friday... Did you have any luck at the Pull-it yard?
