Progressing further on the 3800SC Series 1 swap, and definitely want to change the SC oil. My manual (even Chilton's!) is not much help, it gives me the "use ONLY sythetic oil GM part #xxxxxxx" line. Checking with NAPA's computer system says that 5w-30 oil is recommended, but I want to get a definitive opinion before I drain this thing out. Synth motor oil? Synchromesh? 75W-140? Oh, and engine/blower are out of a 93 Bonneville SSEi. Thanks in advance!
I'm not positive about these earlier superchargers but I know my Bonneville SSEI 97 Series II uses that special GM oil. I've been using this replacement for it as of late... http://intense-racing.com/M..._Code=3800_Induction

GM offers a specially bottled supercharger oil that they will gladly sell you for about $9.00 for a small bottle and you'll need two bottles to fill the reservoir. IMO, a special oil should not be critical as you are just lubricating gears and bearings but no one seems to know what this special oil is. I'll look up the GM part number for you later today and post it here.

when i had my rivi i went to the local pontiac lot and went to the parts counter. and a good fair warning is the stuff smells pretty nasty but its not a hard job to do
The Magnusson Radix (Eaton ) Supercharger on my 2003 Tahoe was supposed to have the oil changed every 50,000 miles using the same weight synthetic oil as recommended by the manufacturer of the engine for your climate.
