Will resonator tips quite down my exhaust at all. I did a 3800sc swap in my 88 using the stock 3800sc exhaust with a flowmaster 80 series muffler 2 1/2" exhaust and would just like it to be a little quiter . If you could show me some pics of your resonated tips and were you got them. Thanks
I've never heard my 3800SC purr without the Heddman Hot Dual Tips resonators but if you look inside the tips you will see a muffler baffle. It must do something but I would be interested in seeing a before and after test.

fastback 88 I have the same exhaust setup on my car. I used resonator tips made by Pilot and I think mine sounds good. Its quiet enough to have a conversation in the car without yelling. I got the tips on ebay, but I know Autozone and other parts stores have them.

I have the same exhaust/muffler setup on my 3800sc & found it to be too harsh or barky under normal driving. I installed Hooker resonater tips that are twin chrome pipes on each side that almost look like the GT pipes but don't have the flared exit. Smoothed the sound down nicely for normal driving but still sound great when you wind it up. Got them at a swap meet but I would assume they're still available.

I have Hooker twin resonator tips on my 3.4 with 3" exhaust, one glasspack and one flowtech muffler. I think the resonator tips help quiet it down some, especially at cruising speeds, I can carry on a normal conversation without yelling or listen to the radio.

I would bet it is resonance from the muffler itself making your noise, certain flowmasters are known for that. I have some old 40 series on a 72 Buick, 40 series are bad for it, not sure about 80 series. I was trying to think of a way to quiet that down, maybe wrap them in something, or shrouds? On a Fiero though theres not much room.

I bought some hooker 2 1/2 in duel 3" out resonator tips and put them on today they made enough differance at idle that it doesn't rattle the pics on the wall in the house. Thats what I was looking for to quiet it down a little. I didn't get a chance to drive it yet I will let you know how it is. PS they look great to! Thanks to Everyone

I used Monza resonator tips on my 3800. It dropped the noise level down significantly while at idle (750 - 1500 rpm's). At anything above 2000 rpm's, they do nothing to quiet it. I have a catalytic converter, but no muffler. The system is made of 2.5 inch pipes. The exhaust system is heat shield wrapped from heads to tips. (tips get really hot...) The tips are really cheap too. I got them for $10.00 each, and have had them on the car since 2002. They are all chrome and exhaust black color now. But, you get what you pay for.
