I hit 200,000 miles today so I thought I'd start a thread about it just to see who shares my fortune. The catch is you cant be part of the club if you've swapped engines or done a refresh or rebuild must be original! O.K. so I cant stop you from posting but still thought it was cool that my fiero is running original engine, paint, and even still has all factory stickers on it at 200,000!

204k on my 3800 swap car. Sorta in the same boat that matt is, but most of my stuff is stock in the front end, and I still have factory struts in the back!
244,000 miles, mostly original except motor, RF wheel bearing, clutch, brake pads, RR knuckle, other odds and ends. Motor was a rebuild so all numbers still match.
86 2.8 original motor xmission,221k engine great shape didnt burn any oil ,but the trannie blew apart, @167k had to replace original ignition module. paint was gone.21 years of sun, surf, salt and sand down in the fla keys. had to put her to rest but stripped quite a few parts. recently picked up an 85 v6 auto with 87k 1 owner car.

I think any car that makes it to 200k is an achievement. I am the original owner of an 88 coupe with over 213,000 miles. Still passing emissions tests.

Ja! I was just thinking of posting a thread on who has a 1/4 million or more. So I guess this would work too. I have 191K so soon would be 200K. Having the stock engine is great but whatever you have if it is that high it means that "maybe" you have enjoyed all those miles. Now maybe that would be an interesting topic to start. Who has 200K or more with only you as the driver? I know I can account to all of the 191K miles in mine plus about 8K in my other one

Bought it with 203k, had been sitting for 5 years--no rust! Did the clutch, slave cylinder, fuel pump, front brakes (were locked up), head gasket (mainly for peace of mind). Has the original Duke engine (not rebuilt!), Isuzu trans, and as far as I can tell everything else--including the paint, badass tiger-stripe pinstriping and all. Coming up on 205k now, need to dig into the suspension... Speaking of stripes--it's an 85 2M4, silver, with 13" alloys. It's got four diagonal red & black lines (forget how many of each exactly) on each side of the rear, with red and black pinstriping running the length of the car. I've never seen a picture of a Fiero with similar graphics, would anyone know if this is special, or just uncommon? Cheers!

I have an 88 Mera with about 206 k on it prior to an emgine swap. It now has improved performance since installing a 3800 SC Series III with IC, cam, 3.4 pulley, and N* TB.

Currently at 217k on my 86 base coupe, as far as I know engine has never been apart, burns no oil. Replaced factory struts and rear calipers at 215k, had factory AM/FM only in it until 215k. I do have the blue puff at startup sometimes, I figure that helps lube the top end! **********A good question, does anyones duke NOT sound like it is full of marbles at idle?*********8

Well, it's no longer mine, but I bought a Fiero with 163k miles many years ago (an 85 Fiero GT) that was original. They did have to replace a single head gasket, but I don't think that really makes a difference? I kept it and sold it with 182k miles on it. The person who bought it took the car and drove up to Ohio with it (bought it from me in South Florida, and drove it up to Ohio). I kept in touch for a little while, and the car continued to drive well for another 20 thousand miles. Shortly after hitting about 200k, he did a really hard launch and snapped one of the rear axles.
I didn't talk to him really after that so I don't know, but I DO know that it hit 200k.

I think that's pretty common. As much as I like the Fiero, the Iron Duke motor... well... a few words that I would NOT used to explain it would be, "Refined", "Balanced", and / or "Finely Tuned". That's not to say that it can't be, I mean... Chrysler bought the motor and continued to enhance it well into present times. All of those Wranglers and Cherokees that said 2.5 had a revised version of the Iron Duke.
There's stuff you can do to the Duke to make it sound and run better, but it's just not the best design. Other than the problems with heads cracking due to overheating, the bottom end of the block is basically bullet proof.
The 2.5 Porsche motor is a good example of an 80s, well tuned motor. It's got a pair of balancing shafts that are used to offset the negative torque effects of the crank.
The new 2.4 VVT motor from GM (the EcoTec) is another one of those "Dukes" so to speak. Even though we've had the technology for a while, it's relative a new area for GM. I have one in my Solstice. I LOVE the motor, but damn is it noisy. It's pretty bullet proof. I mean, I can downshift from 3rd to 2nd into 7,500 rpms into redline and it'll take it. (did that by accident, thought i was going slower than I was! hahah...)
I'm right there too. On the third set of timing gears and oil pump. It still runs lika champ..... uh duke...... well, whatever. Still pulls to redline and doesn't burn oil.

Mine sounds more like an antique Singer sewing machine.

88 Mera with 205K on 2.8 L V6. I finally bit the bullet and it now has a 3800 SC Series III with intercooler, XP cam, 3.4 pulley, and N* TB so the performance is somewhat improved.

Well, I guess this counts. I have an 85 notchie that had 265k on it before the duke took the old plunge. Of course that was about 6 years ago and the car hasnt had an engine since. However, I did just buy another duke to swap into it so hopefully it should be back on the road in a month or so. Of course with a fresh rebuild on the engine I got I dont suppose that will be in the 200k club anymore, but most of the rest of the car will be, except for paint and wheels that is.
