smaller primaries mean better lowend power.

All of the fast cars are running turbos, the faster supercharged cars are doing a pacesetter or tog extreme setup.

On a 173 ci engine the last thing you want for the street is a 1 3/4" header. You need extraction quality in the pipe and 1 3/4" is just too big for the ci displacement. I've seen figures that indicate 1 1/8" is good for low end torque on the 2.8 (173 ci) and the optimum for high speed and low end torque is 1.5". The 1 3/4" are used for larger engines like the SBC and even then a 350 ci can work pretty well with 1.5.

Definitely stay away from 1 3/4" unless you want a WOT racing application
