So my car would not idle properly prior to me changing The IAC. Sometimes it would start, but I would have to hold the gas for a long time before it would stabilize and continue running. I took out the IAC and used my finger and it fired up perfectly. So I changed the IAC and the problem has seemed to have been corrected. But the only issue I have now is that my car stays at 2000 rpm during idle. I havent driven the car yet just started/shut it down. If anyone could help me with the correct procedure to adjust the idle becuase I believe I read somewhere changing the idle screw isnt the best way. Btw I dont have a scanner for my ECM either....

Disconnect the battery for about 30 seconds to clear the computer memory. Reconnect it and take the car for a drive. After it warms up and sees speeds above about 40 MPH or so, the computer will reset the idle. Don't mess with the adjustment screw! It is factory set and should never need readjustment.

You need to pull the ECM fuse then disconnect the negative battery cable for about two minutes. This will clear the ECM, you will need to take it for a steady drive over 35 MPH (fully warmed up) for the ECM to reset the IAC idle characteristics. You really should be good to go after that.
