Hi Guys!
This is my first post.

I have run into an issue with a 85 Fiero GT that I just bought. It sat for 5 years. The clutch pedal is stuck at the floor and will not disengage. Should I replace the pedal, master and slave? It has a first generation master on it.
Thanks!

Start with a new master cylinder.
May as well count on a new slave too but do it a piece at a time.
Be sure to inspect the clutch line front to rear, it is on the left side of the car.

An after thought, check the pedal to see if it is steel or aluminum. If not steel, get one from the fiero store or check the mall.
There are some pics floating around that shows a bent pedal. Maybe some one can provide you with a link to identify the difference.

well, have you tried bleeding it?

if someone removed the return spring from the pedal and you lost fluid pressure, the pedal would stay on the floor

The pedal seems to be stuck at the level of the brake pedal, but definitely will not move in or out.
Thanks!

Well the height is about right, but you have to isolate why it will not move. The quickest thing would be to go under the dash and disconnect the master cylinder to see if this frees it up. If so move on to the master cylinder and down the line.

The hydraulics are problematic, but pretty straight forward. Your problem sounds very similar to what I had in 1993 when i bought my first Fiero. Best I can remember my problem was a bad pressure plate or throw out bearing arm. All I can tell you is do not try pressing really hard on the pedal in thoughts it will free up. I did and burst the clutch hydraulic line. Not fun to find or replace. Especially since that was not my problem anyway.

Another quick way to check your entire system minus the clutch itself would be to unbolt the clutch slave cylinder and try moving the pedal. Just don't force anything. My bet is your problem is inside the bellhousing. Also, not so fun.

Had that problem in my son's 84 once. Turned out the slave cylinder had rusted up. (They get a lot of water in that area).

Rebuilt the slave and everything was fine.

well that's a different problem than being stuck at the floor.

grab the release arm on the transmission and pull it towards the drivers side of the car.
this will push the pushrod and piston deeper into the slave.
hold it there and have someone else step on the pedal and see if it moves.

i have seen many clutches rust together after sitting for years.
there are some tricks you can do to get them to free up, but we'll wait to hear back after you play with the release arm.
