I managed to disconnect the release cable when I removed the housing for painting. Now,I want to put it back And I canīt get enough play in the cable to be able to clip it back into the release mechanism. Do I have to remove the whole of the inner wheel arch to get at it, or is there a simpler way I am just NOT getting?
Thanks for any help!

I did the same with mine. You have to play with it and use some long pliers to pull it out and then quickly put the assembly close to it and use the pliers again to push it in the slot. A little tricky but not that hard. I had to do it like three times because of some screw ups so I got expertise Worst case get someone to help you hold it out while you place the assembly. Be patient and you will get it.
