I'd have to pull mine, (probably should check the oil level anyway) but if I remember right it's red.
The car is in my other garage across town right now.
If you don't get any other response I'll stop by and check it..

I thought mine was red or pink, maybe that was due to oil staining the gear? Someone on here will have the answer.

The teeth will depend on gear ratio and tire size and that chart I cannot find.

Look on your SERVICE PARTS IDENTIFICATION label on the inner left fender

D4N - red 10041031 29 teeth
D4O - purple 10041032 30 teeth
D4P - blue 25519845 30 teeth
D4Q - white 25519846 31 teeth

I will scan in the chart and post it for you

Per my 1986 service manual (page 7A-7 Figure 3) the M17 4-speed manual transmission gets the 30 teeth natural with the 29 teeth red gear.
This is for both the 14" and 15" wheels.

I E-mailed you a larger print of the Speedo Gear chart to you.

That is correct. If you are missing the small gear than you need the "speed gear".
Look at your RPO codes:
Speed Gears (on vehicle speed sensor)
D4N Gear, speedometer driven (N) 29 teeth 10041031 (red)
D4O Gear, speedometer driven (O) 30 teeth 10041032 (purple)
D4P Gear, speedometer driven (P) 30 teeth 25519845 (blue)
D4Q Gear, speedometer driven (Q) 31 teeth 25519846 (white)

Drive Gears (in transaxle on the differential)
D9A Gear, speedometer drive (A) 10 teeth 8632646 (green)
D9B Gear, speedometer drive (B) 35 teeth 14047637 (natural)
D9C Gear, speedometer drive (C) 35 teeth 94408341 (blue)

These are the CORRECT part numbers for the gears.
