Ok here's the story, I sent my injectors out to be cleaned and decided to paint the intake and valve covers while the car was down. When I was putting the valve covers back on I noticed a couple of the rockers were a little loose so I tightened them. Then when I had it all put back together it didn't want to start. I had to put the gas pedal all the way to the floor to get it to run and it didn't run very well at all, when I take my foot of the gas it dies. The rockers are the only thing I can think of. I pulled the plugs and they're wet so it's getting gas, it has spark. I was just wondering if the rocker adjustment would prevent it from starting. I only tightened them like 1/4 turn apiece. If I did screw them up is there a way to reset them. It's a V6. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance. -Brett

Here's a pretty good thread that talks about rocker adjustment:

https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum2/HTML/081185.html

Look at the post from Robert 2. It's a procedure I used that works really well.

I can tell you after following this procedure, if you cranked back around, some of the valves would "feel" loose again! You can over tighten them.

Do a search for "valve lash" and you'll find alot of other posts and info.

Goood luck, hope this helps!

You may very well have to reset them. If the engine sat for a while the lifters can bleed down. Then if you rotated the engine you would have very loose rockers.
Also on a engine that has run for a while (year or more) there will be play in the rockers since the cam wears and the lifters change.
You really should not have touched them if they where working ok but you already found that out...
The old line "if it's working don't mess with it" applies here...

Read the post mentioned above and reset them right. Just be sure and not over do it. You have to feel for zero lash carefully.
