I plan on putting a 62mm throttle body on a Trueleo intake which will go on the pushrod 3.4L OHV engine swap in my "daily driver" Fiero with automatic. I'll need a flange fabricated to be able to use this particular 62mm throttle body with a Trueleo intake, but I'm not concerned by that.
However, I unfortunately noticed only
very belatedly that the (as yet uninstalled) four-bolt RSM 62mm throttle body I purchased last year operates "backwards" relative to the stock Fiero throttle body.
That is, with the design of a stock Fiero throttle body, the upper half of its circular butterfly valve pivots
away from the engine when giving it more throttle.
In contrast, with the design of the 62mm RSM throttle body I purchased, the upper half of its circular butterfly valve will have to pivot
toward the engine when giving it more throttle.
Because my 3.4L Fiero is a daily driver which can't be out of commission for an extended time, I've three questions regarding the upcoming installation on it of a 62mm throttle body on a Truleo intake:
- Aside from the flange I'll need fabricated in order for my 62mm throttle body to be used with a Trueleo intake, and the need to accommodate the aforementioned "backwards" difference in the way the circular butterfly valve opens, are there any other difficulties you might anticipate at installation (e.g., maybe involving the IAC, the TPS, or something else)?
- Might any of these difficulties necessitate the use of a different 62mm throttle body?
- Is there a specific 62mm throttle body which you would recommend instead, and have you a source you'd recommend for getting one? (It appears the "plug-and-play" version of the 62mm RSM throttle body once sold by pfyc.com is no longer available from them.)
