I have been working on my front end. Its used and it has some spots in it that look like paint bubbles. I popped a few of them today and they had water in them. I will be sanding the front end down before I refinish it but I was wondering about unfinished fiberglass and water absorption.
Should I get some heat lamps and warm up the spots I'm working on or will it require more heat like from a heat gun?
Would sitting it out in the sun do the trick?

I'm going to be no help at all in answering your question,
but I wanted to say that'll be one sweet looking Fiero when you're done. I'd love a hood like that, and the headlights seem pretty cool too

You mentioned sanding down and repainting. If that process involves shooting a primer and working your way up thru a fresh paint job, your exposed areas will be ok, after drying out. I'd avoid extreme focused heat, rather let it air dry, inside or outside. If I misunderstood and your not repainting, I'd at least shoot a sealer ( thinned primer) before repainting just the spots. PPG makes a nice two part epoxy primer that can also be used as a sealer.

Drying it in the sun should do the trick. Pointing a fan at it will speed things up. Like opm2000 said, you should avoid using high-powered concentrated heat sources (like heat guns and lamps).

Thanks guys, makes me feel better. I will be sanding and repainting all of it, too much work to do just to spot paint.
Is there any kind of spay bomb primer that wont need to come back off before painting? I would like to seal up the repairs as I do them so I don't have to worry about the water issue. Florida is pretty wet, if its not rain its the humidity.

You need to strip ALL of the paint & primer off of that frontend down to the gelcoat. I have a writeup on the basics of stripping a Fiero at the Ga. Fiero Club website. http://www.gafiero.org
Once down to the gelcoat, clean with wax & grease remover & then prime with epoxy primer. No there are NO good spray can primers that you won't have to sand back off if you want to do the job right (& have it last).

The only nice thing about a spray can (bomb) primer is that it sands off really easy. You can always use the spray bomb and then sand it off when your ready for the final paint job.

Your car is comming along real nice. Extractor looks a lot like mine 'extream'. Cant tell in photo (not that you can in picture either), if you have a little lip-like jump at the leading edge. Thye help with the airflow and make it look even more functional. I mak emine about 1/2" high and brought it around the sides taypering down toward the rear. Have you decided on a color yet?

Actually I have some 2 part primer just don't have a spray gun. I may get a cheap one and try it out.
