I was thinking of converting my 1984 t-top se too a 85 GT style,
My car right now is 9 out of 10 and no rust, tops are perfect!
but I like the look of an 85 GT better, all I would need is front and rear bumper,
lower gray ground effect on side and rear decklid with wing, would help
if it is an 1985 with perfect red paint located near my house, maybe
with blown motor, ready too be stripped, Any thought?
Should I keep it stock?? it does look good condition wise.
Dave

Ps...I would have too do the rear vents too I guess.

I have an 85 4 cyl car converted to GT body, kind of. Previous owner did it but kept the 4cyl rear and it actually looks pretty good. He also put a smaller spoiler from an 80s dodge car (dont know what kind) that hangs further back and is smaller than the GT ones. I will try to get some pics up soon so you can get an idea. Also, when you say you would like to find a car with perfect paint, meaning you would just put it right on your car? Good luck matching the paint up on the two cars. Even if they were the same factory colors at one time, Every batch is slightly different than the last. So much that factories actually assemble cars to paint all the parts at once and then take them back apart. Plus two cars will fade differently.

Forgot to mention with the GT nose, there is now a large gap between the wheel wells and the nose. you may need the wells from a GT as well, or maybe its just a filler.

Very interesting, I did not know about the nose, are the ground effects " bolt on "
I kinda figured I might have too get a paint job, maybe I will wait and
see what happens with my 86 GT fastback, it needs a paint job too,

Buy the 85 GT and replace the motor - it's 10 times a better car than the 84.

I agree it might even be 10x times better BUT it wont have the T-tops
thats the key and will not remove them and install them on another car,
thats not an option, I actually have 86-87 GT wheels and poly and new
shocks and struts on my 84 SE t-top so it actually isnt too bad really.
much easier too change boy panels I would think, might look for a 85 GT or 86 SE
with blown motor or something, that would work and paint it all red.
The condition of the car is a 9 out of 10 thats what is holding me back.
