When it rains the belts (e.g. alt and AC) get wet and many times will screech when you first start up and/or rev the engine. This is a know characteristic of Fieros. You can try tightening the belts. Especially if they were recently replaced. A brand new belt will stretch a little when it is broken in and need minor adjustment. Nothing to worry about if it only happens when wet.
Yes very common. If you do a search on belt squeal in the forum you will find lots of post on it and solutions that others have come up with..
hint hint
Dodgerunner has an excellent belt tensioner that solves that, Rodney Dickman also has a idler pulley that solves the problem.
Belt squeal is unfortunately common with the stock setup. You can confirm its just the belt by watching the Volts gauge, when the belt is squealing it should read low, the jump up as the squeal does away.

Also, if it is excessive squeal or your belt wears too fast, check that all the pulleys line up and don't have a lot of corrosion on them. Rusted or corroded pulleys will eat through belts.

Rodney's idler pulley is a great fix for this on the V6. Loose bets tend to squeal when wet but at the right tension I haven't had a squeal in wither a 4 or a V6.

For a cheap temporary fix you can use belt dressing or soap but thay are by no means a real fix and only mask the squeel. Yes the squeel is very common to the stock 2.8L motor.

This was the problem with mine, but it was my crank shaft pulley that was bad, not the Alt or waterpump pulley. Check all of them real good.
