I was thinking that I might want to use an intermediate shaft on my 5speed getrag - N* swap so I was wondering if anyone has done it yet and from what car, year and model it came from?
Feel free to add any comments on specific modifications to the parts used. Specially on how you got around attaching it to the engine block.
Thanks, JG

Gonna have to whip up a bracket to attach it to the block.
I was setting one up for my car, but the way I modded the rear exhaust manifold was JUST too close to where the CV joint was going to be.
I pulled my parts out of a Beretta. The axle was 2" too short. I found a shaft that worked, but I don't remember what the application was. Do a search... it's been done with other engines and there won't be a difference except with the bracketry.

And by the way is there anyone who knows what year Beretta has the right length?
JG
I as well want to know if anybody can tell what intermediate shaft is the right length as well as if a Fiero axle will work with it or if I have to get the donor cars cv axle as well

I ran an intermediate shaft when I was running a Torsen diff. I broke the shaft and swapped out the diff and intermediate shaft. I used the one from a Barreta and the short side Fiero axle with the proper CV to attach to the axle.

I wonder if a v6 sunbird with getrag shaft will work..what do you mean by proper CV?

You are correct. You just need the tripot from the donor.
Well I got the Sunbird shaft and it looks like I will have to take a automatic equipped Fiero's longer axle ( not sure which side that is ) and shorten it up in order to use the Sunbird shaft because the shorter auto Fiero shaft is 2 inch too short!! Any idea what else I could use so I dont have to cut an axle??
The shorter manual Fiero axle is too short as well

here are the different Fiero axle lengths ..the one plugged into the intermediate shaft is the shorter automatic Fiero axle the next one below is the longer Fiero auto axle the next one below that is the sunbird axle and the last one is the shorter Fiero manual axle
as you can see the longer Fiero auto axle is the only choice to use and it will have to be shortened
anybody done this??

Just out of curiosity, why do you want to use the intermediate shaft setup?
it would help me make a better rear motor mount and not have to allow clearance for the long Fiero axle I am thinking about using a limited slip as well and want the axles to be more even too

hmmm thats what my problem is ..the shaft is 2 inches too short ..no not mine ..the Sunbird ..I wonder what one you used given that it most likely would have been for a GM v6 app
