i'm looking at getting a set of used 5x100 wheels.

will these fit on my fiero, i don't know what the offset is, does that matter?

all i know is that they are 5x100

positive rating for all helpers

5x100 is the correct bolt pattern. I'm not too sure on the proper offset though.

Believe all but 88 where 30mm offset.
88 where different front and back something like 30 and 35

The 88 fronts were 42mm
I believe the rear is 35.

You are right that the 84-87 front and rears are the same offset, but I could have sworn it to be 35mm.

Some. It keeps the center line of the wheel on the centerline of the bearings so they last longer. You can move off some but the farther you go the greater the load on the bearings. Handling would be affected some also.

i went to a shop looking for rims and thay said its a 5x100 and a +40 offset for my 86 fiero gt
