I replaced the power window motor in my passenger door about 3 years ago. It was working just fine till about 3-4 months ago. Whenever the window goes up or down it makes a clunking sound all the way up and all the way down. I have the inside door panel removed and the outside panel removed but everything looks to be ok and in the tracks. Any ideas as to what is causing this noise?

My best advice when it comes to your Fiero is to "NOT" do any dealings with www.kitcarman.com

I just had both my doors completely apart recently as well. I was doing dew wipes and a general door refurb. replaced the hinge pins/bushings, pulled power window motors/regulators cleaned & regreased everything, same with the power door lock motors & door latch assy's. Can you narrow down at all where the clunking is coming from? Can you have someone run the window up & down while you observe from the outside? Could possibly be from the motor itself, maybe put your hand on the motor body (careful, watch your fingers) while it's moving & see if it feels like it's clunking? One tip to share, if you do need to replace a motor stay away from the ebay specials. I bought a pair thinking well if they're crap, at least I didn't spend too much ...... and I wasn't (or is that was) disappointed. I put one of those in (after cleaning & greasing everything) and the damn thing literally couldn't get the window to the top of it's travel. Put the original back in after the clean & grease, and it works great now. Let me know what you find, and if I have any other revelations in the mean time I'll let you know.

Well after much fiddling I found the problem. It was the motor itself. I bought that motor from 1A Auto on ebay. Go figure . I didn't have anyone here that could push the button while I watched so I got creative. I removed the motor and pulled the window up and pushed it down manually and it worked fine. I pushed the window button and the motor made the clunking sound while unattached to the window. I called the local AutoZone and low and behold they had 1 in stock! I really didn't want to buy it from AutoZone but I am going to a car show tomorrow morning and really needed it to work. Anyway... I bought the motor, installed it and the window goes up and down. It gets extremely slow about half way up or down but at least it is working. Thanks for your advice.
