I'm looking at the various methods of removing paint and rust from parts and saw this video...

The description reads:

"Baking soda blasting demonstrated using dry blasting method on a 30 ft Scarab. Baking soda easily removes bottom paint without harming the fiberglass gelcoat. It prolongs boat life and reduces maintenance costs over time. (more) "

Is this a viable way to get Fiero body parts clean?

Only one way to find out...... Get some junk panels and blast em! As for rust removal, I'm going to use muratic acid on my 88's bolts and small parts, and maybe even on the cradle. Its cheap, but it's something you dont want to breathe. I used the stuff on some u-bolts for my fullsize truck, and it cleaned some nasty rust off the threads and made them usable again. Just something else you might want to try.

The automotive industry uses dry ice pellet blasting to minimize cleanup and environmental impact.

the paint flakes are all that is left to clean up after the process because the dry ice sublimates into CO2

I tried it a bit with a handheld gun and some store soda. it worked ok but was slow. I think I need way higher pressure.

It uses a LOT of soda. and soda attracts moisture faster than sand so you really cant store the soda for long periods of time.

Try Molasses instead- 1:10 ratio for removing rust.
