yeah so i didnt use the search funtion...quite frankly if everyone used the search...there would be no body posting which means no forum ..SOOO.. heres the dealeO
i have an 88 with no trunk light, it has a colored plastic piece covering the hole... SOOO i went to the junk yard and swiped a trunk light, lense/bulb/ wire from another Fiero..Now i could just run a wire from the batt, ground the other and conect a single pole push switch (like a door light switch) so that the trunk lid pushes it.. thus operating the light when open..buuut i dont want to do that for odvious reasons...malfuntion..light stays on over night..batt dead..late...Fired..SOOO my main point here....is there still wireing somewhere in that hole that would help me...also i was wondering if i could wire this to the trunk lock mech..i think the door ajar mechinsm is in the latch...thats a switch like what i need right? how could i tap into it?..or im a missing someting huge here?

The trunk light should have a manuel switch on it,rather than the plunger switch you describle. Is the wireing there?Only way to find out is to pull back the trunk carpeting and look. Can you tap into the trunk mechanism? No,not easiley,it's in the decklid (on top, rather on the bottom like some Camaros have). Is the door adjar mechanism in the trunk lid? No,the trunk lid doesnt use a plunger switch (it has a constant 12V).I would try and tap into the power source at the alternater blower moter, located on the right side of the trunk, behind the carpet. But first your going to have to see if the wires to the blower motor have a constant 12V.

I've seen some Fieros in which the owner added a manual ON/OFF switch to turn off the trunk light when the decklid was open. On my car the switch for the trunk light is part of the latch mechanism on the decklid. I have it disabled with a piece of wire that holds the switch in the off position for when I have the car on display.

I have a 98 Grand Am & its trunk light is activated by a murcury type switch that is mounted to the trunk lid support. Why couldnt you use something like that?
