I have an 86 SE that had a bad temp guage (needle broke off). So I installed a new (used) one last night. The gas guage ssems to work fine, however the temp needles which should read from about 8 oclock to 4 oclock (cool to hot) seems to rest upwards of about 12:30 ish

Just wondering if I got a bad gauge or maybe that guage is wired backwards.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Dennis

When the engine is cold and you first turn the key to run, does the gauge sit right at 100?

Here's some diagnostic info on my website:

Have you checked it with the temperature sender disconnected? With the power on and the sender disconnected, if the gauge does not show 100 something is wrong with the gauge itself.

If it does show 100 at that point, you need to replace the sender or check the wiring.

Do you have the V6 or 4Cyl?

On a V6, its on the head that is closest to the trunk, on the left.

On a I4, it is sticking up by the thermostat housing. I can try and find a pic for you.

Here it is on the V6:

You should post a WTB in the Mall. There is always someone parting out a car that might not see this.

The other methods include the Fiero Factory and Kick Hill, both Fiero junkyards and good people.

The most expensive is a new one from the Fiero Store.
