The PO had a small accident that created a tear in the aero nose just above the black body molding. See pic.

Can a tear like this be effectively repaired and last?

Sure just grind it out front and back and build it up with the bumper repair two part mix. Back the crack up with some screen to reenforce it. There a several post showing how to do this if you do a search. (I made one of them but there are several others. )

Just do a search on "bumper repair"

Facias can easily be repaired using FLEXIBLE urethane repair compound. I've repaired 3 " tears, and 1" holes and they have held fine. I've used 3M easy sand filler in the past with excellent results. It's a two part filler that you mix equal proportions together and apply like body putty. Clean and rough up the area, fill, let dry and sand. You won't even notice that there was any damage after the repair and don't use Bondo as it will crack.

I am ashamed. Yes, I did not do the requisite searches before posting. I wrongly thought this was an unusual problem.

I will not be doing the repairs myself. I just wanted to know if I needed to be looking for a new nose before heading for paint.

Thanks for the info.
