i know this issue has been discused many times before but it has always been with a stock engine. i know the usual cause is like a coged cat or vacume leake. my question is will a larger came (comp cams 260h) with more overlap and set to the retarded setting on the timeing chain cause this to happen when breaking in a brand new engine. or could it be caused by me not haveing the right chip because it is a 3.1 with a .040 overbore, full port and pollish, 1.52:1 rockers, and a couple of bolt ons. after every head ach i could posibly get with this car my manifolds are glowing. also when i went to take my foot off the gas the engine died could this be a problem of not haveing the right chip. i need to figure this out fast
thanks
chris

If your car is Idleing too fast, your manifolds may glow red hot (your timeing may be advanced).A vacume leak may allso cause your car to Idle faster. Is the cat new or old?

I second the timing issue theory. Check cam to crank timing.
