Is there a permanent cure for the phantom wipe? I've changed out that steering column switch 3 times in 175k miles and need to do it again. You'd think GM would have found a cure for it since it was used in several of their models including the Corvette. Thanks in advance.

www.rodneydickman.com sells a kit to correct the phamtom wipe if replacing the wiper switch is not fixing the problem. The kits have new parts for the wiper delay circuit board.

I've replaced the switch three times and that will fix the problem for several thousand miles or for several years then it's back again. I've also replaced the wiper circuit board with GM's new and improved one and that didn't make any difference. The problem is more frequent when it's cold outside or the car has just been started cold.

When I experienced the phantom-wipe ailment, I replaced the cover on the wiper motor. That cover has a circuit board attached behind it, and it's a little 10-cent part somewhere on the circuit board that failed. That was back in the early-90s, and I've never had another phantom-wipe problem.

You're lucky. I've replaced the same cover and circuit board and the problem continued. I replaced the switch again in 2003 and two years later it's back. @#%$&(*^!!!

I added spade terminals to a toggle switch a pluged it in where the fuse goes. When it rains I just reach down and flip the switch, and I have wipers. Just something that works for me.

I had a switch several years ago but took it out after I replaced the switch thinking I'd finally fixed it. But, guess what, it looks like I'll have to put it back since there is no real permanent cure. Thanks for all the inputs.

Funny thing is I never really tried to fix mine, after reading what all you guys were going through, trying to fix them "right" I just said what-the-hey, I'll just go around it. Been working fine this way for years, unless I forget and leave the switch on, then when I hit the blinker, boom there go the wippers.
