There's a brownish-crud all over the inside plastic fender wells on my Fiero. Hosing and a heavy brush doesn't work to get it off. As a test, If I scrape a spot with my fingernail the dirt comes off, but that's not efficient! And I don't want to buy 10 things if there is experience out there of what would work. Thanks.

I would remove the wheels so as to gain better access and place car on jack stands. Get a power washer and some simple green. Try to keep away from paint.

Best way is with someone else's hands or find a friend with a pressure washer.

being a detailer for as long as I have been the best trick is a preasure washer after soaking it with some all purpose cleaner. But to get that real nice look out of your wheel wells and keep it is to use a laquer type black paint, we did that all the time to make old POS cars to sell faster when I worked at the local pontiac dealership. That trick is right up there with buffing compound and match paint to get rid of oxidation and then waxing the heck out of it so it looks perfect for about a month or two then it will start going back to normal.

When I had mine out after the car was painted I used Simple Green and a Scotch Brite pad, cleaned them really well and they looked good when done.

Lots of elbow grease though.

Simple Green
WD-40
Meguire's wheel spray: http://www.meguiars.com/?wh...ms-All-Wheel-Cleaner

Remove tire and scrub with a brush or scrubbing pad.

All three have worked well for me, I do prefer the Meguire's stuff the best. It will even take off most of it without scrubbing.

Thanks,
Simple Green seems to be a winner. I never used it but understand it's very useful for many projects. I'll pick some up!

you should take them off if you have the time, power wash them and scuff them up with some sand paper, then shoot them with a black. Im just saying take them off because you may find a nice surprise behind them. Mine had lots of rust to fix The easiest way to fix that kind of rust i think is by smearing fiberglass resin over it all.
