What are you using as a plug for the cam sensor on a 3.4 swap? I have checked with GM dealers in my area but no one has anything. That only answer that I have gotten is to use a freeze plug that will fit that hole, but I thought I heard of a plug just for it made by GM. Just wondering

If you look thru the archives, Someone posted the GM part numbers for the sensor covers.
When I originally did my 3.4L I just took the cam sensor and cut the bottom off with a hacksaw then I cut the wires off the top and filled it with epoxy for appearence sake.

EDIT: My second post below has the GM part numbers and cost.

you can tap the hole and thread a plug in if your motor is apart.

Just goto your parts store and get a 1" (think that is the right size maybe a 3/4") rubber expansion plug.
You grind off a flat on the washer of the plug to clear the intake, drop it in and tighten. DONE!. '

I bought some cam and crank sensor plugs from West Coast Fieros (which still carries them) well before my own 3.4L swap. They looked great but were VERY pricey, and frankly, after their installation, I don't know that I've even seen them since on the engine in order to still appreciate their appearance.

A MUCH less expensive solution, if you still have the original cam sensor from the 3.4L, is simply to do what Oreif suggested on this thread, but if you don't, to do what p8ntman442 or Dodgerunner have suggested.

With the West Coast Fiero cam/crank sensor plugs, you don't have to worry about their fit, but they ARE way pricey, and if you need only one (e.g., the cam sensor plug you've mentioned), I think you still have to buy them in a set of two.

Good luck with your 3.4L project!

At $44.00, it is still cheaper than the alternative of purchasing the sensors to simply plug the holes. The other option that I would go with is to purchase used ones from a wrecking yard. I have seen some out there RTV on quarters to seal the holes but I'd like to think there are a few out there with a little more common sense

The parts are used on the 3.4L "HT" crate engine.

Here is the cam sensor plug info:
GM PART # 94033681
CATEGORY: All
PACK QTY: 10
CORE CHARGE: $0.00
GM LIST: $0.67
OUR PRICE: $0.40

and also if anyone is interested here in the Crank Sensor plug:
GM PART # 9421749
CATEGORY: All
PACK QTY: 1
CORE CHARGE: $0.00
GM LIST: $4.25
OUR PRICE: $2.52

Prices and info are from:
http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/

You can also go to any GM dealership and order them by the GM part number.
$44.00 is way too much to just plug a hole. You can get a brand new cam sensor from GM parts direct for $19.00!
