i just swaped my 3.1 l .040 overbore, h260 cam, 1.52 roler rockers and a whole top end port job, acell coil, and firestorme ignition modual. when i went to go start it for the first time it wouldnt start. i dont think im getting the timeing set correctly. what is a sure fire way to know that te #1 piston is at top dead center on the compresion stroke.
also i noticed that when i left the ignition on i heard the iac moter still running is this normal or what could be the issue
thanks
chris

Sure it's the IAC and not the fuel pump?
The most accurate way to check where TDC is I think is to use a spark plug with a slug welded in.
Put it in, turn the engine by hand until the #1 meets the slug, mark the HB, turn it around until it hits again, mark the HB, TDC is exactly half way in between.

Good way to check you HB has not slipped.

when you install the cam, and have the crank & cam timing marks at 12:00 & 6:00 - that is TDC #4 - not TDC #1. this is a classic timing mistake.
so, you may just be 180* off with the timing - which means swap the wires.
