Hello,
I took my '85GT into my mechanic to get a the code 32 checked out. It's a bad EGR Vacuum Solenoid. Just two years ago he put a new solenoid (12 month warranty) on the car. He could not find another one in the central Indiana area so I have ordered one from the Fiero Store. Except for the red light on my dash the car runs great! Do you guys know of any common reasons for early failure. I guess it could just have been a bad part?

Are you 100% certain its the valve? Could easily be that vacuum line needs blown out or replaced.

The mechanic did that but the solenoid was just not functioning.

Well, I replaced the solenoid last night with a new one from the Fiero Store and, at least this morining, the check engine light stayed off on my trip to work.

Don't know what you paid for the egr solenoid at fiero store but I got mine a couple years ago at AutoZone. I ask for the one for the chevy S10. Its identical except for the mounting bracket which I took off my old one and used.

I'm thinkikng maybe 20 some bucks.

Cant find the receipt or I'd give you the part number. My original one lasted about 60k miles and only changed it becaused it looked so bad when taken apart.
