How hard would it be to convert my '85 Duke to DIS?

I know that I would need a new ECU. Probably some wiring...

Does anybody know where I can line up the list of parts?

'85 Fiero 2M4 - 5spd Isuzu
'67 LeMans/GTO clone 6.5 litre TH400
All the rest aren't Pontiacs, so what does it matter?

The DIS engines are significantly different from the distributer engines. They have different crankshafts with a reluctor gear, different block machining, (crank position sensor pad, no distributer mount) and a totally different fuel injection system. If you have an 87-88 engine to transplant, the rest is fairly straightforward, wiring harness and ECM.

You could use an 87-88 2.5 ecm and harness and have an external 7x crank trigger wheel made to mount on the end of the belt pulley along with a mount to position the crank sensor, but I don't see where you will net a benefit worth the investment. You will also need the coil packs and ignition module.

you need a more technical answer to your question .the engineering term is "no" the distributor is not the problem it is the ecm and the related components,, the prom ,the the extra wiring, the need to have an excellent ground connection the sensitivity of ecm connections, luckily these components are dirt cheap compared to some modern current cars which have computers that cost more than a good fiero,if you want change go with carburator and electronic distributor not dependent on prom and ecm.. I have 88 duke and and have years of troubleshooting experience,,am in battle with gremlin who defies detection and destroys proms
