I bought mine about a week ago and it was $1750 + shipping it came with all the accessories, wiring harness, and pcm. It has 10,000 miles on it. I got it from an auto parts recycler in Washington. They had another one that had 65K (I think) for $1250 + shipping. If you go to www.car-part.com you can search the engine and that would give you an idea of what they cost.

I have never paid more than $400 for just a motor, it had 50k miles (got a free parts car with it). The most i ever paid for a engine/trans combo was $500, it had 100k miles. In occasions I have gotten them for significantly less with more mileage.

Prices vary due to the age and mileage of the engine as well as the wreckers itself selling the engine, I have bought complete set ups of engine, tranny, harness and PCM for as little as $1,000 and as much as $4,000. Shop around but try and get as low mileage and complete as you can afford to buy. Dan
the u pull it yard here charges $199.00 for any complete engine. a few more bucks gets the pcm and a few more gets the engine harness. it comes to just under $300.00 for a whjole setup. any engine.

I believe that the price range for a 3800SC is $900- $2000. The average price seems around $1700. I paid $2600 for a 2006 series III but it also came with the 4T65eHD. The whole package was virtually new w 60 miles on it. New series III 3800SC crate engines with all accessories cost around $3700. If you can find one, new series II engines go for around $3200 The model year, mileage and the number of items included will determine the price. One thing that I have noticed is that used 3800SC engines seem to bring a premium price. I've seen virtually brand new 3800 N/A engines sell for $900 . This is great buy and a low price (but significant) upgrade to the 2.8L. However step up to the L67 and the price goes up $1000 or more. Prices of 3800SC engines are up there as are the Northstars. In contrast like new 300 HP 5.3L V8 engines can be had for far less. Supply and demand in action.

I picked up my 2001 GTP motor with 40k miles for $710. It included everything i needed (complete wiring harness, pcm, alternator, high torque starter) They even were nice enough to unhook all the wires correctly and not just cut them.
