I have been working on my sound system. I bought one of these based on the good reviews here. At first I had problems getting it to sync. I unhooked the battery like they recommended and that fixed that. The problem I having now is a hiss sound. In order to hear music at a reasonable volume from my MP-3 player I have to turn the output of the MP-3 player all the way up and the head unit almost all the way.

Yes I can get adequate volume that way, but I get a hissing sound. I can pull the MP-3 player loose from the GM9-AUX and the hiss is still there. If I turn down head unit volume it goes away.

I am almost sure it is related to having to have the volume so high, but it's the only way to get reasonable volume when playing MP-3's.

Has anyone else had this experience when working with this interface device?

Do you have the volume on your mp3 player turned up? If you diddnt, then that might explain whats happening.

Volume on MP3 is wide open. It is the only way to get any volume.

Try it with a direct line-out connection from your MP3 player instead of playing through the headphone jack. Try a friend's MP3 unit. If there's no change, there may even be something wrong with the adapter - call P.I.E. for advice.

I did call PIE for advice. I think I managed to get it going OK. Problem is I don't know what I did to get rid of the problem. I am using the headphone jack as there is no line out on my mp-3 player.

I guess I will ride it out and see how it works.
