According to http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/findacar.htm

auto is 18/24
5 spd is 17/27

New rating are :
auto 16/22
5spd 15/25

Honestly the old numbers look more correct to me than the newer 2008 numbers. FYI my 87 GT with 5 spd I am getting 30 mpg dunig the summer and 25 mpg during the winter.

Welcome to the forum!

I just did search recently and found the government website for gas mileage stastitics.
Here is the link,,,, http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/download.shtml

You'll notice both the EPA estimated and "unadjusted" mileage figures.

Hi once again,
I just bought my 87 GT 5sp about a month ago and was getting around 21mpg before I tuned it up. New plugs/wires/cap and a ox sensor. MPG went to 27 combined city/hiway. Still had a idle problem so cleaned the throttle body and the IAC sensor which was ugly. Finally got enough confidence in her for a road trip. To my surprise I got 32mpg with the A/C on, total 114miles. On the way back with 66miles city driving and 114 hiway I got 33.5mpg. I am more than pleased with those figures, I love this little car...
